Teen TV and Film Actress Kimi Acosta Cast in Multiple Projects - The Importance of “Dreaming Big," Working Hard, and a Reminder to All to “Never Give Up”

(Dallas) - Kimi Acosta is a teen actress on the rise, attributing her success thus far as a working actress on various projects, to her supportive family, working hard, staying true to ethics in all she does and never giving up, as well as maintaining utmost faith. In addition to appearing in the film, “The Night Before” as Penny, released on Redbox September 19, 2017, she recently wrapped production on a teen series of a production entitled, “Vantage Points” which will be released on Amazon in early 2018. She has been cast in a pilot for a TV Series as one of the leads. The project is called “Supernal.” As described by Kimi Acosta, it is a faith based series about a teen named Gabby who is being bullied. Acosta worked with Radio Disney out of Dallas, hired as a permanent employee of Radio Disney doing voice-over work, until the location was moved out of the Dallas area. Kimi Acosta stated in a recent interview, “I’ve played the lead, co-lead, supporting actress and principle in a lot of student films, indie shorts, indie features, and have also worked as a featured extra. She continued, “I have been on a ton of sets, so I’ve gained a lot of knowledge and experience throughout the years, working behind the scenes as well, which gives me a well-rounded perspective in terms of all that goes into making a quality production.” Kimi Acosta attended Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy for three years to study and perform in their theater arts program. In addition to her training in theater, she has worked with many known and respected acting coaches for television and film.
Kimi Acosta also summarized the importance of being a “role model” to other up and coming teen actors, and to all, truly. “I want to be someone that people look up to. I want to always stay true to myself, never compromise my morals or values. She continued, I want to show other teenagers that they should never let bullying or peer pressure affect their decisions.” Advice to all, she conveys the importance of “always being kind.” Treat people how you want to be treated. Love one another and respect one another.” Kimi Acosta supports organizations which protect animals and is also supportive of organizations who advocate against bullying. “I have been bullied, states Acosta, “and I’ve seen people bullied, and I don’t like it. Kindness matters. She continued, “I have a lot of respect for organizations such as “Mercy for Animals”, an organization that works hard to advocate for the protection of animals, as well as those who advocate against bullying, such as “Stand for the Silent”, and “Ditch the Label.”
At just 15 years old, going to auditions and acting classes since the age of six, Kimi Acosta has immense gratitude when it comes from the support from her family. “My family has always been my main support system. My mom stopped her prior career about four years ago, to run me around to take me to auditions and dance classes. She continued, “at that point my dad became the sole provider for our family, and I know it’s been a challenge, but they say I’m worth it. I have a lot of support from my sisters as well.” She summarized stating, “my family just wants me to excel and pursue my dreams, and I do stand in gratitude realizing how blessed I truly am.” From the time she was a toddler, mom Margie Acosta, recalls her daughter watching “Dora the Explorer” with awe and intrigue, to the point that Kimi had to have Dora’s haircut. She also loved watching “Wizards of Waverly Place.” One day as recalled by Kimi Acosta, she spoke to her parents and said, “mom, dad, I want to work inside the TV.” The first audition Kimi Acosta participated in was due to her mom’s best friend of 38 years finding out about an open call for talent. Immediately she called Acosta’s mom and also manager, and said, “Margie take her!” It was then, Kimi Acosta concludes, “I became the happiest girl in the world.” To others who wish to pursue a career as an actor, Kimi Acosta knows “it takes perseverance, determination, grit and a lot of patience, when one does book a role as an actor in a quality production, it is a very rewarding experience, eventually hard work pays off.” Actresses that Acosta mentioned as those she would love to work with at some point in her acting career, “I love Selena Gomez, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence, Shailene Woodley and Jennifer Lopez.
